Jenny Nicholls

Jenny is an editorial writer, graphic designer and illustrator who reviews books for the New Zealand Listener and writes opinion columns for Stuff. She has a special interest in science writing, having written regular columns with a science focus for the current affairs magazine North & South. In 2018 she was one of three finalists for the MPA award for Best Columnist/Blogger. Jenny has also been a regular travel writer for North & South, and in 2021 designed and edited a North & South 148-page special issue focusing on travel in New Zealand. Before training in graphic design, Jenny graduated from Wellington Polytechnic School of Journalism.

During her years as art director of North & South, she won 10 industry awards for graphic design. She has won the Magazine Publishers Association Awards Designer of the Year award (Current Affairs) twice, and also the MPA Supreme Designer of the Year. Jenny’s magazine covers can be found on the international cover design website Coverjunkie.

Jenny is an experienced commissioning photographic art director and stylist. She was art director of the Auckland urban magazine Metro from 2002 to 2008, and art director of North & South until 2020. While in the role, Jenny also managed North & South’s Instagram account.

 
 
 

Nora Elena Restrepo Yarce

Nora is an exceptionally creative graphic designer with nearly twenty years of experience in editorial design, illustration, social media, marketing, packaging design, typography and infography. She has technical skills to burn, plus the ability to work quickly under high pressure.

Nora was the Head of Editorial Design for a leading Latin American publication and director of the redesign of a national newspaper before travelling to New Zealand to live permanently in 2016. She is a confident design leader, but also a dazzling and warm addition to any design team.

Nora is a fashion and design maven, and loves editorial design, music, illustration, and her kitten Jackie Chan.
